broadwatertrimb.jpgLong Island, NY- Governor David Paterson announced today at the Sunken Meadow State Park boardwalk to a crowd of Broadwater opponents that the State finds the Broadwater proposal violates the Coastal Zone Management Act and is therefore inconsistent with the values and uses of the Sound.

CCE applauds Governor David Paterson, Secretary of State Lorraine Cortés- Vázquez, and their staff for the thousands of hours of work they’ve spent reviewing the proposal and for coming to the appropriate conclusion that Broadwater would disrupt the Sound’s uses for both recreational and commercial activities. Secretary of State Cortés-Vázquez has demonstrated a clear vision for the future of our Long Island Sound and CCE would like to recognize and applaud her direct personal involvement in this issue. She serves both her Governor and the people of New York with an extraordinary sense of stewardship.
